I think first Warhammer was super hype, and when it comes to historical games - Shogun 2, probably. I don't remember when I was excited about new Total War. They are also done with Warhammer, since 3 was the last instalment. So, Total War is in a weird state, right? Everyone begs for Medieval 3, yet CA focuses on smaller titles (I guess that Troy and Pharaoh were originally supposed to be in one game, maybe even with bigger map, including Babylon).
Not to mention it's a bit similar to Troy, because it's so infantry-focused. So now Sega will learn a wrong lesson here I think and they will think that people do not like the setting - no, people just don't want smaller Total War priced as it's new Rome or Medieval. Barely anyone is playing Pharaoh rn, it peaked at 5k users on Steam (Brittania peaked at 22k). And those games weren't priced as 'traditional' entries, cause they were smaller. Even though Pharaoh is - in size and content - like Brittania or Troy. And Sega priced this as a 'full-fledged Total War game', like it's Total Warhammer 3 or something. But it just doesn't have a lot of content.
I like that it's 100% historical without lite-fantasy stuff like Troy. Late b-day gift, she said - great! I wasn't going to buy this, so it's a nice surprise.Īnd it's a nice game. My sister surprised me with Total War Pharaoh.
